Job Description
The Palletizer, Bagger, and Entry Level Equipment Operator roles serve a key function in the operation and ongoing maintenance of high-speed manufacturing equipment that produces metal cans and ends at the Dubuque, Iowa manufacturing location.
Duties and Responsibilities- Operate the automatic can palletizer, inserting separator sheets between layers of cans and placing top frames on completed pallets.
- Sort and inspect cans, print pallet tickets, and perform quality checks.
- Keep the work area clean and organized, performing minor tasks as directed by the line maintainer.
- Support the line maintainer in operating production lines when qualified.
- Assist in preparing, loading, and feeding metal coils when requested.
- Remove jams as they occur and perform visual inspection for defects.
- Assist in removing metal dies and lubrication when needed; replace and re‑align cans as necessary.
- Operate automatic bulk packing machinery to load/unload various size cans onto pallets.
- Remove old from packing material and apply correct ; maintain numeric sequence of pallets.
- Observe and practice company safety rules and SOPs at all times.
- Maintain flow of finished product; communicate pertinent information between departments, peers, and shifts regarding equipment, production schedules, and problems.
- Collaborate with employees to identify solutions and implement fixes on machinery problems.
- Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent.
- One or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Vocational or technical certification.
- High‑speed packaging industry experience.
Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative and strategic problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent time‑management, project‑management, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven math and computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms; may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May lift or move up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work largely in a plant environment, may move to different parts of the manufacturing floor.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- Exposure to a range of temperatures.
- Noise level frequently loud.
