WASH OPERATOR

HOURS:

2ND SHIFT 3:15P‑11:15P IF ON OT TO 1:15AM

WAGE: $20.20 + SHIFT DIFF $1.25

A Wash Operator works in a production or stamping facility and is responsible for cleaning metal parts after stamping or machining processes. The role ensures parts are free of oil, metal debris, and contaminants before they move to the next stage of production or shipping.

Key Duties
  • Operate industrial parts washing or wash‑line equipment
  • Load and unload stamped or machined metal parts into wash baskets, racks, or conveyors
  • Start, monitor, and adjust wash cycles (temperature, pressure, chemical levels, timing)
  • Inspect parts after washing to ensure they are clean and meet quality standards
  • Remove excess oil, debris, or residue from parts using wash systems or air blow‑off tools
  • Move cleaned parts to staging, inspection, or packaging areas
  • Document production counts and quality checks as required
  • Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning filters, checking fluid levels, and clearing jams
  • Keep wash area clean, safe, and organized
Quality & Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow OSHA safety rules and plant safety procedures
  • Wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Report equipment issues, leaks, or chemical imbalances
  • Ensure no contaminated or improperly cleaned parts move forward in production
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment
Physical Requirements
  • Standing for long periods during shift
  • Repetitive lifting, loading, and unloading parts (often 20–50 lbs)
  • Working around water, oils, chemicals, and noise
  • Fast‑paced production environment
Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Manufacturing or production experience helpful (but often entry‑level)
  • Ability to follow written work instructions
  • Attention to detail (quality inspection is important)
  • Basic mechanical awareness (adjusting equipment, spotting issues)
  • Dependability for shift work (1st/2nd/3rd shifts, overtime possible)
