Travel Med Surg RN – Dubuque, Iowa
Fusion Medical Staffing seeks a registered nurse for a 13‑week travel assignment. The role includes patient care on medical‑surgical and telemetry units, working 12‑hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, document changes, and report concerns to the care team.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor responses.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical or surgical conditions.
- Document comprehensive patient information in the medical record.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and needs.
- Ensure infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences.
- Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- One year of recent Med Surg RN experience.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- NIHSS certification.
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- Other certifications or licenses as required.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
- Proficient reading, writing, and oral communication in English.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skill to work effectively with diverse personnel.
- Technical/motor skill to perform fine manipulation, assist procedures, and use equipment.
- Mental endurance to cope with public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work independently or under supervision, manage irregular schedules, and maintain continuous concentration.
