Description
The Medical Associates team is seeking an energetic LPN or RN to join us as an Employee Health Nurse. In this role, you'll partner closely with Tri-State Occupational Health and Human Resources to support the health, safety, and well-being of our employees across all locations.
Location and Hours:
- Primarily based at Tri-State Occupational Health, with travel to Medical Associates locations
- Monday-Friday, 4-4.5 days/week
- Flex up to 5 days/week during peak periods as needed
- Hybrid option: 50/50 split between onsite and remote once fully trained!
As an Employee Health Nurse, you'll help support the health, safety, and well-being of Medical Associates employees across all locations. In this role, you'll partner with Tri-State Occupational Health and Human Resources to support employee health programs, workplace wellness, and employee care needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support employees through workplace injuries, illnesses, or exposures and help coordinate return-to-work plans
- Manage employee immunizations, screenings, and health-related programs
- Assist with workplace safety and infection prevention initiatives through training, education, and support
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and follow up on employee incident reports and trends
- Maintain employee health records and related documentation
- Participate in Safety and Infection Control Committees and help support ongoing improvement efforts
- Stay current on employee health and workplace safety best practices and help implement new programs and procedures
- Coordinate care and follow-up for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses, including return-to-work planning
- Communicate with employees, healthcare providers, and other partners regarding employee health needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to employee health and workplace incidents
- Support workplace safety and infection prevention programs across the organization
- Conduct safety walkthroughs, ergonomic evaluations, and follow-up tracking as needed
- Manage employee health and safety resources, including maintaining related systems and records
- Support employee wellness initiatives including vaccinations, screenings, and health education
- Help coordinate Safety and Infection Control Committee meetings, including agendas, meeting notes, and policy updates
- Research and implement best practices related to employee health, wellness, and workplace safety
- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
- Active RN or LPN license (Iowa or multistate)
- 2+ years of nursing experience preferred (will train the right candidate!)
- Interest in occupational/employee health (experience preferred but not required!)
- Self-starter with strong initiative
- Organized with excellent follow-through
- Problem-solver with critical thinking skills
- Strong communicator and presenter
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Education:
Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Iowa RN/LPN license or multistate license.
Experience:
Experience and skills that will help you succeed in this role: solid and varied nursing background, previous employee health and/or case management experience a plus but not required, Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.). Policy development, training and presentation skills, active committee membership.

Work involves extensive personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, and/is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important (vendor reps, labs, offices, hospital, etc.) and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other
Skills:
Ability to travel to multiple locations. Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment. Good computer skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Aspects:
