Shift: Day Shift (1st shift, 40 hours a week)
The Nurse Senior – Charge Nurse plans and provides professional nursing services in accordance with state regulations and established policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate acute care nursing services for a diverse patient population, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients.
- Supervise and collaborate with LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members.
- Facilitate communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Apply nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) and evidence‑based practice to deliver safe, effective, and culturally competent care.
- Act as a unit practice mentor and identify learning needs of staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and serve as a champion role model within the team.
- Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical standards.
- Manage resources effectively to achieve financial and performance outcomes.
- Promote a healing and culturally sensitive environment for patients and colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current Iowa RN license (Iowa or IL license if working in IL).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within three months of hire.
- Completion of Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within six months of hire.
- Specialty practice certification is preferred.
- Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared‑leadership environment.
