Registered Nurse – Night Shift

Full time.

Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift (6:00pm–6:30am). The position is 0.9

FTE, 36hours per week, with every third weekend and holiday rotation. Schedules are made every six weeks.

We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse who provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center.

Essential Functions

Conduct an initial assessment within 30 minutes of a patient’s arrival and complete the admission assessment database within 24 hours.

Identify patient problems and develop an outcome/goal‑based plan of care, incorporating relevant medical history, nursing interventions, and appropriate referrals.

Implement the plan of care, delegate tasks to team members, coordinate interventions, and participate in discharge planning.

Evaluate patient progress, revise the plan of care as needed, and maintain accurate documentation.

Communicate clinical information to physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members throughout the shift.

Demonstrate clinical competence, medication safety, and proficiency with required computer systems.

Manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable, interpreting rhythms and responding to cardiac events.

Provide age‑appropriate care and communicate with patients and families in an age‑compatible manner.

Adhere to safety, infection control, and PPE protocols, and participate in emergency procedures.

Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and organizational integrity policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in nursing required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Current Iowa RN license.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
High level of language, mathematics, and critical‑thinking skills.
Basic computer skills.
