Mercy One Dubuque is the leading hospital in the tri-states, offering the only comprehensive cardiology center and Level II regional neonatal intensive care unit in the area as well as the newly constructed Mercy One Dubuque Cancer Center. Other services include a trauma center, a CARF-accredited inpatient rehabilitation unit, orthopedics, retail pharmacies, palliative care and a wide range of outpatient and community services.

Mercy One operates two hospital-based skilled nursing units and a 40-bed nursing home.

• PRN status, as needed

• Demonstrate critical thinking abilities and the use of the nursing process in the delivery of patient care through assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation according to education and experience.
• Conduct nursing practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group.
• Respect the confidentiality of an individual or group, unless obligated to disclose under proper authorization or legal compulsion.
• Provide age‑appropriate and culturally ethnically sensitive care.
• Maintain a safe environment of care.
• Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Assure continuity of care.
• Communicate effectively about care.
• Meet core nursing competency requirements and unit‑specific basic and advanced competencies upon hire and annually, as appropriate to the practice area.

• The Licensed Practical Nurse must hold an active license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa.
• Graduation from an approved program for practical nurses is required.
• The Licensed Practical Nurse must maintain continuing education units per the state licensure requirements and continuously seek opportunities to enhance his or her own professional nursing practice.
• Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
