SUMMARY
A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. is a family‑owned manufacturer committed to a people‑first approach. In this role you will professionally manage all responsibilities of multiple product‑line sales representation within a designated territory, prioritizing customer needs in the long‑term interest of the Customer, the territory, and the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform sales calls on all existing and potential customers in the assigned territory for assigned product lines; document all actions in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Set up all customers, non‑customers and opportunities in CRM and log daily interactions, following the Territory Manager handbook.
- Approach each sales call with a plan that utilizes AY tools such as Power BI reports, social media, website & portal, literature, and other supports.
- Develop an annual territory sales plan with a SWOT analysis and act on strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats.
- Analyze market dynamics to identify opportunities and tag them in CRM.
- Maintain a distributor analysis, ensuring alignment with top distributors to maximize sales and relationships.
- Perform end‑user specifications, pre‑sale education, and regular sales calls to promote acceptance and use of AY products.
- Co‑work with municipalities and distributors to get AY products specified in all water‑work districts.
- Attend local, state, and regional trade association shows and company sales meetings as directed.
- Submit expense reports through Concur weekly and in accordance with the accounting guidelines.
- Assist with the quotation process by providing market pricing, competition, and bid information.
- Maximize account opportunities and profitability.
- Prospect the territory for new accounts and opportunities.
- Coordinate return‑goods processes between customers and Customer Service.
- Use the demonstration truck effectively to maximize exposure.
- Review customers for potential VIP tours and submit requests through the office.
- Support Promotional Activity Requests and Sales Programs with required documentation 30 days in advance.
- Expose customers to AY resources: AY University, Social Media, AY Alerts, product literature, promotional items, videos.
- Complete all AYU courses and any assigned AY Industries courses.
Required
Education:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school, or 1–6 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Experience: 5–10 years of sales and/or industry experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to travel within the North Central territory covering ND, SD, NE, MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, MI; willingness to relocate if necessary.
Background Check: A pre‑employment background check and a 9‑panel drug screen (no THC) are required.
