The Dispatch Operations Manager is responsible for building trusting relationships with their fleet of drivers and dispatchers. You must lead by example, encouraging and enforcing communication between all departments for the most efficient outcomes. Train the team how to effectively and empathetically communicate with drivers. Training the team to work as one and continually improve each of these categories will result in the overall success of the team and position.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Lead and direct a team of dispatchers, drivers, and trainers
- Build strong and trusting relationships with dispatcher and driver while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor
- Manage dispatch to pick up and deliver loads to customers and vendors on time
- Track freight numbers to ensure all trucks are moving and accounted for
- Ensure accurate information is in the system by the team frequently monitoring PTAs (projected time of availability) and ETAs (estimated time of arrival)
- Maintain TFL’s securement standards by monitoring load securement emails and coaching drivers with discrepancies
- Coordinate with TFL’s maintenance department to schedule repairs and services as needed
- Work closely with Driver Managers and cover their boards as needed
- Manage time off requests for dispatchers and drivers

- Review driver payroll ensuring it is accurate and fair
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as necessary
- Support strategies that improve driver retention
- Performs other duties as assigned
- In-depth knowledge of the trucking industry and commercial motor vehicle operations
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire teams
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft word, excel, etc.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Must be a self-starter and have a positive, “can-do” attitude
- Travel to other terminals as needed
- Embraces teamwork and appreciates problem-solving in group environments
