Registered Children’s Home Manager (x2)

Dudley Council – Children’s Services Transformation

Dudley Council is entering an ambitious and exciting phase of transformation within our Children’s Services. We are opening two new Ofsted registered mainstream children’s homes:

  • One 4‑bed home
  • One 6‑bed home
This is the start of a wider programme to expand and strengthen our internal residential provision, ensuring our children and young people can remain close to their families, communities, schools and support networks. A Rare Leadership Opportunity

This is more than a management role; it is an opportunity to build a home from the ground up and shape a culture of excellence from day one.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the full set‑up and registration process with Ofsted
  • Recruit, develop and inspire your own staff team
  • Embed a strong, child‑centred and trauma‑informed culture
  • Drive high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance
  • Work in partnership with fostering, residential, commissioning and family support services to support planned step‑down arrangements
  • Ensure children receive outstanding care and achieve the very best outcomes possible
Our Vision

Our ambition is clear:
To provide safe, loving homes in Dudley where children feel valued, supported and connected. Where appropriate, you will support children to return home in a carefully planned and supported way. You will champion permanence, stability, education, emotional well‑being and positive identity for every child.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Experienced and confident in leading residential children’s homes
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and quality standards
  • Can build and retain high‑performing, values‑driven teams
  • Lead with compassion, resilience and professional curiosity
  • Place children’s voices and lived experience at the centre of practice
Requirements

A Social Work Qualification is desirable but not essential.

Applicants must hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare and have worked for at least 2 years within a residential setting.

Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro‑rata) or onsite full time.

What We Offer

We are reviewing the salary through job evaluation and a market supplement is under active consideration to ensure the package is competitive and reflective of the responsibility of the role.

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Salary sacrifice schemes
  • Access to employee wellbeing support
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression as part of our wider residential expansion programme
