About the Role

Financial Groove is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Tax Preparer / Tax Manager to join our Las Vegas tax and accounting team. This position is ideal for a tax professional who is confident preparing individual and business tax returns, working directly with clients, researching tax questions, and managing deadlines in a fast-paced boutique office environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge, excellent organizational skills, professional communication, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare work to be processed by gathering, sorting, prioritizing, and organizing client data and documents
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax documents by assembling and analyzing financial information
  • Complete tax forms using professional tax preparation software
  • Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
  • Enter and record tax information accurately into databases and software systems
  • Review client documents for completeness, accuracy, and missing information
  • Communicate with clients regarding tax documents, follow-up questions, deadlines, and required information
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client and firm information
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations by researching current rules and requirements
  • Refer complex tax interpretations or unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor when needed
  • Support workflow, deadlines, and team coordination during tax season
  • Contribute to team results by being flexible, collaborative, and willing to assist with changing work requirements
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, client service, and office workflow
  • Maintain job knowledge through continuing education, professional publications, personal networks, and professional organizations
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of tax preparation experience
  • Solid understanding of tax law, common IRS forms, deductions, credits, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to conduct tax research and apply findings appropriately
  • Experience preparing returns involving Schedule A, Schedule C, Schedule D, Schedule E, and Form 2106
  • PTIN required
  • Current CTEC and/or EA credentials preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines
  • Professional, dependable, and organized work style
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during tax season
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lacerte tax software
  • Experience with workflow management systems
  • Experience with client time-tracking software
  • Prior experience in a tax office, CPA firm, accounting firm, or bookkeeping office
  • Experience working with small business owners, independent contractors, entertainers, or self-employed clients
  • Experience assisting or guiding junior tax staff is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required
