The FOCUS Internship Program is designed for driven college students seeking a meaningful, hands-on experience in public accounting. This is far more than a coffee-fetching internship - you'll work directly with our professionals and clients, gaining real-world exposure to the audit process and the dynamic environment of a CPA firm.

From day one, you'll be mentored by experienced team members at every level - including Accountants, Supervisors, Managers, and Principals - who are committed to helping you grow. You'll receive specialized training and guidance as you navigate audit season and tackle complex financial challenges.

We understand the importance of your education, which is why we offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your class commitments. With seven offices across Southern Illinois, you can choose the location that works best for you.

The FOCUS Internship typically runs from June through August
, aligning with audit season and offering a strong foundation for students pursuing a career in public accounting.

Internship Objectives
  • Build a solid understanding of audit procedures, standards, and occasional tax extension work
  • Gain hands-on experience with audit software (e.g., Case Ware) and documentation best practices
  • Strengthen professional communication and teamwork in a client-focused setting
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in executing audit procedures, including testing account balances, internal controls, and transactions
  • Prepare and organize work papers in compliance with professional standards
  • Participate in client meetings, walkthroughs, and inventory observations
  • Conduct research on accounting and auditing topics and summarize findings
  • Use firm-approved tools and software (Excel, Case Ware) to support audit engagements
  • Collaborate with audit teams to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional service
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality throughout all engagements
