We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our small business tax clients. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of professional bookkeeping experience
, strong experience using Quick Books Online
, and a solid understanding of how to properly categorize business income and expenses.
This position will focus on maintaining accurate books, categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing Profit & Loss statements to ensure our clients’ books are accurate and ready for tax preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for small business clients using Quick Books Online
. - Properly categorize bank and credit card transactions according to the nature of the business expense or income.
- Review transaction classifications and identify incorrect or unusual categorizations.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
- Prepare and review Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and consistency.
- Research and resolve bookkeeping discrepancies.
- Review client books for missing, duplicate, or incorrectly recorded transactions.
- Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and clarify transactions when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records throughout the year.
- Prepare client books and financial information for small business tax preparation
. - Assist with year-end bookkeeping and tax-related bookkeeping adjustments.
- Manage multiple client accounts while meeting deadlines.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial information.
- Minimum 2 years of professional bookkeeping experience.
- Hands-on experience using Quick Books Online is required.
- Demonstrated experience categorizing income and expenses in Quick Books Online
. - Strong understanding of Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.
- Experience reconciling bank and credit card accounts.
- Experience working with small business clients preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to recognize and correct incorrectly categorized transactions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
- Previous experience working for an accounting, or tax preparation firm
. - Experience preparing bookkeeping records specifically for small business tax clients
. - Experience with multiple industries and different types of small businesses.
- Understanding of how bookkeeping classifications affect tax reporting.
The ideal candidate is someone who can take a small business client’s Quick Books Online account,
properly categorize transactions, reconcile the accounts, review the financial statements, and produce an accurate Profit & Loss statement that is ready for the tax preparer.
The candidate should be comfortable identifying transactions that need clarification rather than simply accepting the existing categorization and should have a strong understanding of accurate, tax-ready bookkeeping.
