Business Management Intern – Part-Time, Summer Intern

Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train, and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We’re hiring a part-time, summer Business Management Intern who will support the Federal Contracts Department in administrative operations, data management, process improvement, and program support. Working directly under the department lead, the intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of nonprofit management, federal contracting, and organizational strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with administrative and operational tasks supporting federal contract sites
  • Help maintain and organize departmental documents, reports, and shared drives
  • Support data collection, tracking, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct basic research on nonprofit best practices, federal contracting trends, and operational improvements
  • Assist with scheduling, meeting preparation, and follow‑up documentation
  • Support internal communication efforts, including staff updates and resource distribution
  • Participate in site visits to understand contract operations and workforce needs
  • Help develop or refine process workflows, checklists, or training materials
  • Assist with event planning for recognition events, site visits, or staff engagement activities
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and organizational standards at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Occasional travel to visit military bases and installations

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
  • Current undergraduate student in Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and basic reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently while taking direction and feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical demands:
Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:

  • Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Preparation of reports and presentations will require extensive keyboarding

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal, and the temperature may vary with seasonal changes.
