Internship Exploring General Business & Beyond

The Purchasing Intern will support the Purchasing Department with daily administrative and operational tasks related to residential homebuilding procurement. This role is designed to provide hands‑on experience in purchasing, vendor coordination, budgeting, Budget reviews, and plan review. The intern will work closely with the purchasing team and plans to help maintain accurate pricing, organize documentation, review scopes, and assist with community and plan setup activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in construction management, supply chain, business operations, or residential development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with vendor and subcontractor communication.
  • Help maintain and organize pricing spreadsheets, budgets, and bid comparisons.
  • Support the review and updating of scopes of work.
  • Assist with purchase order tracking and documentation.
  • Help audit plan options, included features, and specifications for accuracy.
  • Organize vendor contracts, approvals, and product information.
  • Assist with data entry into purchasing.
  • Support community startup activities and new plan rollouts.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and meeting agendas.
  • Assist with cost analysis and value-engineering exercises.
  • Attend internal meetings with purchasing, construction, and sales teams as needed.
  • Help maintain accurate records and filing systems.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in residential construction and purchasing operations preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Basic understanding of residential construction terminology.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and data organization.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with vendors and internal teams.
  • Strong time management and follow-through.
