About Ineffable Films

Ineffable Films is a nonprofit on a mission to open the film industry to emerging and underserved storytellers. We do it through mentorship, festival access, hands‑on education, and community screenings, with work that stretches from San Diego to New York to Boston to a creative partnership in Bandung, Indonesia. Stories are at the center of everything we make, and we are looking for colorists who understand that grade is part of the storytelling.

The Role

We are looking for a Colorist Intern to shape the look and mood of our films. You will grade short‑form pieces, Global Lens episodes, and the films we support, using color to set tone, guide the eye, and bring a director’s vision to life. Alongside that, you’ll be part of a community of filmmakers where you can sharpen your craft, get feedback, and lend your eye to the creators we support.

What

you’ll do
  • Color grade short‑form videos, Global Lens episodes, and supported films
  • Balance, match, and finish footage for a consistent, polished look
  • Use color to set mood, tone, and visual storytelling
  • Collaborate with our video and creative leads on the look of each piece
  • Engage in the community, supporting other filmmakers with their grades
What you’ll walk away with
  • Published color credits from a mission-driven film nonprofit
  • A reel of real graded work that has reached a growing audience
  • Feedback and mentorship from our video team and community
  • A space to develop your own projects alongside other filmmakers
  • A flexible, remote-friendly schedule that fits around your classes
Who we’re looking for
  • A colorist with a strong eye for tone, contrast, and mood
  • Comfort in a tool like DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, or similar
  • An understanding of grading across different skin tones and lighting
  • Reliability, self‑direction, and excitement for film and storytelling
  • No degree required. We care about your eye and your work, not your resume
One thing worth knowing about the community:

it’s yours whether or not you end up interning with us. Even if interning isn’t the right fit down the line, you’ll have a space to get free support from professional filmmakers on whatever projects you’re working on, plus connect with other filmmakers and colorists along the way.

In the meantime, feel free to dive into our Open Hours, our live Q&A sessions with industry professionals that you can access right inside the community. ~Menefese Founder & CEO
