Position Overview

Brooklyn Org is seeking a part‑time Social Media Video Intern to support the Communications team with social media content production, primarily short‑form video editing.

The intern will work largely with existing photo and video assets to create polished social media content, with occasional opportunities to capture footage at Brooklyn Org events and work with Brooklyn Org grantee partners. This is an in‑person internship, requiring one day in the office per week- choice of Monday-Thursday- in Downtown Brooklyn. Expected duration is from September 2026 – December 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Edit short‑form social media videos, primarily in Cap Cut.
  • Turn existing photo and video footage into Reels, event recaps, interviews, and other social‑first video content.
  • Add captions, on‑screen text, music, transitions, and basic audio edits.
  • Resize and format video for social media platforms.
  • Organize and archive raw footage, edited assets, and completed video files.
  • Occasionally capture photo and video content at Brooklyn Org events and programs.
  • Follow creative direction, editing notes, and Brooklyn Org brand guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Film/Video, Communications, Design, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience editing short‑form video for social media.
  • Proficiency in Cap Cut strongly preferred; experience with other video editing platforms is also welcome.
  • Strong visual judgment and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Instagram Reels and current short‑form video trends and editing styles.
  • Ability to follow creative direction and incorporate feedback into edits.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a Communications team.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Experience capturing photo or video content is a plus.
  • Interest in nonprofit work, community organizations, or Brooklyn is a plus.
  • Students, recent graduates, and applicants with relevant school, freelance, volunteer, or personal experience are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
