Job Description SummarySelected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Child Development/Early Childhood Education instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Child Development, Education, and Ethnic Studies Division. Assignments may be day or evening classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, the North County Campus, South County Center, or distance education.
Essential Functions & QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education from an accredited institution;
- or Bachelor’s in any of the above from an accredited institution AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies from an accredited institution;
- or Master’s in education from an accredited institution;

); - or a valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
Required Qualifications
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
- Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges;
- Experience with navigating or teaching in an online learning management system.
