Title: Hrly Financial Literacy Program Intern
Location: Central Library – Program Development Area
Hours: Grant Funded Hourly Position Summer 2026 – Fall 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday, some evenings and weekend, up to 19 hours per week
Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Financial Literacy Program Intern at the Indianapolis Public Library assists library staff with financial literacy program planning, including curriculum development as well as scheduling, coordinating and delivering programs at various branches. This is a temporary, hourly, grant-funded position.
A successful candidate will…- Be a student currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Library Science, Education, Museum Studies, Business Administration, or relevant field.
- Have attention to detail and self-motivated.
- Be independent, reliable, collaborative worker, comfortable working alone or in a group.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Have some weekend and evening availability.
- Have some customer service experience.
- Have basic computer and internet skills including MS 365 and Teams.
- Have a desire and enthusiasm to learn.
Internship duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Writes financial literacy curriculum geared toward adult (19-55) and senior (56+) audiences including defining learning objectives, researching content and developing teaching materials.
- Assists in scheduling and coordinating financial literacy programs virtually and at branches systemwide.
- Delivers and facilitates financial literacy programs virtually and at branches systemwide.
- Assist programming staff in evaluating financial literacy programs and reporting outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist programming staff in coordinating promotional materials for financial literacy programming.
- Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position including some evenings and weekends.
- Able to cope with daily job-related stress.
