Nichols College – Dudley, MA 01571 / Salary: $43,000.00 – $53,000.00
Assist the Office of Financial Aid in the administration of all Federal, State and Institutional Financial Aid. This is a 12-month full-time position with benefits.
Knowledge, Skills, and Education Required- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in financial aid.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Must be capable of working independently as well as working in conjunction with others (including staff from Student Accounts and Admissions) to foster a team‑oriented environment.
- Initiative, problem solving capabilities, and persistence required.
- College and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
- The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic to learn and grow in this role and willing to gradually take on more responsibility.
- Manage a caseload of undergraduate day students, including all undergraduate online and graduate students with respect to preparing awards, adjustments, need analysis, verification and counseling students and parents, if applicable.
- Manage and reconcile the Massachusetts state grant programs.
- Perform exit interviews and perform analysis on average debt of graduating students.
- Certify and process all alternative student loans.
- Process all internal employee benefit programs.
- Aid the Chief Financial Officer in identifying students not meeting satisfactory academic progress, perform satisfactory academic progress review for financial aid recipients and coordinate and conduct financial aid appeals meetings.
- Participate in open houses and accept student day events, which typically includes two to three weekend days a year.
- Disburse financial aid as required for our undergraduate online and graduate students.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Chief Financial Aid Office.
- Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies, boxes of literature and office materials.
- Able to use office and telecommunications equipment.
- Walking is required, traveling may be expected at times.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally.
