Project H.E.A.R.T.S, the youth team of Heartly House, designs and delivers programs that dynamically engage youth to learn healthy, age-appropriate relationship skills (in friendships and dating) and become more self-confident, emotionally aware, and assertive.
The Youth Engagement Facilitator will assist the Project H.E.A.R.T.S. team in presenting and facilitating FCPS school presentations, as well as involvement in youth small groups, community programs, and parent education nights as schedules allow. This position will receive trauma-informed training through Heartly House’s learning management system and on-the-job experience and will collaborate with a team of youth educators. This is an opportunity to gain valuable professional skills in education and sexual violence prevention while developing as an advocate and leader.
This position is open immediately and is funded through June 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
Rate: $22/hr.
Schedule:
20 hrs. per week. Normally Mon-Wed, 7-3pm (hours are approximate), with occasional variations in schedule
Physical requirements:
Standing for extended periods of time, walking, lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
Ideal candidates will live in or near Frederick County. The position will commute daily to various schools in Frederick County and will be reimbursed for local mileage.
Responsibilities- Deliver engaging, interactive classroom presentations on healthy relationships and sexual violence prevention to middle and high school youth.
- Aid in developing professional, dynamic, trauma-informed content and activities for youth and adult programs.
- Assist with engaging, training, and communicating with youth volunteers for special programs, such as service projects.
- Assist in preparing and running after-school activities.
- Assist in preparing and facilitating summer programs for youth in community organizations.
- Assist with stocking, organizing, and preparing presentation materials and supplies.
- Clerical work and other duties as assigned.
- Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
- Some experience working with youth, with ability to engage with youth authentically and compassionately.
- Demonstrated knowledge or interest in social justice work, prevention education, and youth work.
- Aptitude for public speaking.
- Service-oriented and thrives in a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, responsible, and punctual.
- General computer skills including experience with Canva, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
