Are you passionate about American Sign Language and helping students develop meaningful communication skills?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to lead engaging, interactive ASL classes for students this fall. This is an exciting opportunity to introduce students to a valuable language while fostering cultural awareness, inclusion, and confidence through hands‑on learning experiences.
Whether you’re an experienced ASL instructor, a fluent signer, a Deaf Studies student, or someone with strong ASL proficiency and a passion for education, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on young learners.
Curriculum guidance and program support are provided, allowing you to focus on creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
What You’ll Do- Lead engaging American Sign Language classes in a fun and supportive learning environment
- Introduce students to foundational ASL vocabulary, finger spelling, conversational signs, and everyday communication skills
- Incorporate interactive activities, games, storytelling, and visual learning strategies to increase engagement
- Foster awareness and appreciation of Deaf culture and the importance of inclusive communication
- Create a welcoming and respectful classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable practicing new skills
- Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and experience levels
- Encourage active participation, confidence, and collaboration among students
- Monitor student progress and provide positive feedback and encouragement
- Maintain classroom organization and effective behavior management
- Communicate professionally with program coordinators and school staff
- Arrive prepared and ready to deliver an exceptional learning experience
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Passion for language education, communication, and working with students
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom leadership skills
- Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment
- Patient, reliable, organized, and professional attitude
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction to varying skill levels
- Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp, or youth program experience is a plus—but not required
- Background in ASL, Deaf Studies, Education, Linguistics, or related fields is highly encouraged
- Competitive pay: $25–$35/hour based on experience
