Salary Range: $17.58 – $23.61 per hour
MnDOT’s Seeds Program provides paid, college-level student worker positions to highly motivated students. The program is designed to equip and train qualified participants for potential full-time employment with the agency upon graduation.
All students who meet the program’s academic and employment requirements are encouraged to apply for the Seeds Student Worker Program. While the program has a strong commitment to fostering a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve—including but not limited to students from minority backgrounds, recently separated veterans, students with disabilities, women in STEM or non‑traditional fields, and students who are economically disadvantaged.

The program offers flexible scheduling: work up to 40 hours per week during school breaks and reduced hours during the school year to focus on your classes. Some positions require in‑person work, and some may be eligible for a hybrid schedule.
Seeds Student Workers assist offices across the agency, allowing us to hire students majoring in different fields. Currently, we are filling positions for students studying the following areas:
- Business Administration/Business Management
- Geography/Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
* The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
