Position: Child Development Associate Teacher (9) – Oroville, CA

Child Development Associate Teacher (9) – Oroville, CA

Start date:

August 1, 2026.

Salary Schedule 04CD, Range 4, $24.22 – $30.90. This position is exempt from overtime. Annual stipend pay:
Master’s $1,200 or Doctorate $2,000 per year (Prorated upon hire).

Child Development positions will be initially placed according to verified years of experience of like licensed or permitted employment as defined below.

  • 0‑5 years, Step A
  • 6‑10 years, Step B
  • 11 years or more, Step C

BENEFITS: Generous benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision for employee and dependents. Sick leave accrued. $50,000 of employer-paid life insurance provided. This position qualifies for CalSTRS retirement. The employee contribution rate for CalSTRS is either 10.25% or 10.205% of monthly earnings depending on the membership date.

AREA: Oakdale Heights Children’s Center

DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Direct Service Coordinator or designee, the Child Development Associate Teacher will assist staff in the implementation of a high-quality, comprehensive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate early care and education program meeting the individual needs of young children and their families. The Child Development Associate Teacher will facilitate and guide children’s learning and problem-solving abilities as individuals and in small and large groups in a variety of activities involving fundamental language, social, emotional, and cognitive development, both in the classroom and on the playground.

The Child Development Associate Teacher will supervise and interact with children as positive role models, promoting learning experiences and assisting other staff. They will implement curriculum and scheduled activities and provide input regarding activity content to support offering a high-quality preschool program. Additionally, they will interact with families and participate in child assessment through observation recording.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily works in an indoor classroom or playground environment with furniture and equipment built to accommodate children 2‑5 years of age.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (May include, but not limited to the following):

  • Assist in the implementation of elements of a high-quality early childhood education program
  • Ensure that the cognitive, physical, social-emotional, creative needs and educational needs of students are met
  • Assist Site Supervisor in performing regular inspections to ensure a safe, orderly, and appropriate learning environment outdoors and indoors in accordance with community care licensing Title 22 and Title 5 regulations
  • Interact with children, facilitate learning, and support children in their overall development
  • Assist in the delivery of curriculum and daily learning experiences under the guidance of the Teacher and Site Supervisor, helping to provide a quality children’s program, including group time, transitions, and learning activities
  • Recognize, assess, and contribute to the assessment of children’s individual developmental levels; record anecdotal observations
  • Interact with families sharing information and supporting their involvement and needs
  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe environment for children
  • Embrace and participate in supplementary support service programs
  • Collaborate with staff to plan and execute a daily nutrition program, including breakfast and/or snack in compliance with Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which includes shopping for food items that comply with food program guidelines
  • Assist in bathroom support for children in the toilet learning process, including pull-up and diaper changing (if applicable)
  • Cooperate with speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, behavior consultants, and other ancillary support personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Early childhood development, including but not limited to social/emotional and trauma-informed practice, language and literacy, cognitive and physical development
  • The California Preschool Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations (PTKLF)
  • Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), Environmental Rating Scale (ERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and CLASS Environments
