Help Students Discover the Confidence and Joy of Playing Guitar

Do you love playing guitar and believe music has the power to inspire, connect, and build confidence?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Part-Time Guitar Instructor to lead interactive after-school enrichment classes for students this fall. This is an opportunity to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of guitar while helping them develop creativity, perseverance, self-expression, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Students will learn essential guitar skills through fun, hands-on lessons that cover chords, rhythm, strumming techniques, finger placement, basic music theory, and beginner-friendly songs. Beyond learning an instrument, they’ll strengthen focus, coordination, listening skills, teamwork, and confidence as they progress at their own pace.

You don’t need formal teaching experience to make a meaningful impact. If you’re comfortable playing the guitar, enjoy working with children, and are excited to share your passion for music, we’d love to hear from you.

We provide curriculum guidance, lesson plans, and ongoing instructional support so you can focus on creating engaging, memorable, and inclusive learning experiences.

What You’ll Do

As our Guitar Instructor, you will:

  • Lead engaging, beginner-friendly guitar classes in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment
  • Teach foundational guitar skills, including:
    • Proper posture and playing technique
    • Chords and chord transitions
    • Strumming patterns and rhythm
    • Finger placement and coordination
    • Beginner music theory and music fundamentals
  • Guide students through songs, practice exercises, games, and collaborative musical activities
  • Encourage creativity, perseverance, confidence, and self-expression through music
  • Help students develop listening skills, timing, coordination, and musicality
  • Adapt lessons to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and experience levels
  • Create an inclusive classroom where every student feels welcomed, respected, and encouraged to participate
  • Provide positive, constructive feedback that motivates students to continue learning
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment while ensuring proper care of instruments and materials
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators
  • Arrive prepared and excited to deliver an exceptional learning experience

Who You Are

  • Enjoy working with children and helping beginners succeed
  • Have a friendly, patient, and encouraging teaching style
  • Can lead small groups with enthusiasm and confidence
  • Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students
  • Are dependable, organized, and passionate about music education

Formal teaching experience is not required.

Experience working with children through tutoring, coaching, camps, recreation programs, music lessons, youth organizations, or community programs is a plus, but we also welcome first-time instructors who are excited to teach and inspire.
