Velocity is a $2B+ private credit fund finance manager providing bespoke liquidity solutions to alternative managers.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant/Asst Controller (experience depending) to join our growing team. You will support both the private credit accounting and management company accounting functions directly under the Chief Financial Officer. This role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations across investment vehicles and the management company, including financial reporting, investor reporting, cash management, budgeting, and liquidity forecasting.
The ideal candidate has familiarity within alternative investments and/or partnership accounting and is comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with exposure to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities Private Credit Fund Accounting and Operational Support- Coordinate with loan/fund administrator, auditors and tax partners.
- Maintain loan accrual schedules and reconcile to loan admin books.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly investor reporting.
- Support the quarterly valuation process.
- Support capital calls, distributions, and performance calculations.
- Maintain the track record for the Fund and the loan portfolio.
- Support the firm’s compliance program alongside third party partner firm.
- Assist in the review and production of monthly closings and reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and variance analysis for revenue and operating expenses.
- Assist with cash forecasting and maintenance of 16 week forecast
- Assist in developing and enhancing accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting workflows including coordination with AI initiative.
- Partner cross-functionally with investment, compliance, investor relations, and operations teams.
- Participate in strategic finance initiatives, system implementations, and ad hoc analyses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA preferred.
- 1-4 years of accounting experience, preferably within alternatives
- Solid understanding of GAAP, partnership accounting, and investment accounting concepts.
- Familiarity with management company accounting and operating entity financials.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with senior management.
