This is a full time position in person position.

Duties

Being a peer specialist who has gone through similar journeys that many of our clients/families are currently on is a deeply impactful role and an important perspective that we highly value on our team. Join our multidisciplinary Community Mental Health & Wellness team at Wilder and help us provide services that support our community’s mental wellness; these services are critical to Wilder’s mission of improving lives today and for generations to come!

As a peer specialist at Wilder, you will participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams, providing comprehensive in-home and community-based rehabilitative mental health services to individuals living with mental illness, or to parents/family members who are caregivers of a child with mental illness. This may include individualized peer supports that address a person/family’s recovery goals and skill development. In addition, the peer specialist may perform some case management and coordination of services.

If hired as a bilingual staff – the peer specialist will interact with clients by speaking English and another language.

Job Qualifications

If applying as a mental health peer specialist, you must have a certification as a mental health peer specialist. If you are not yet certified, you must be willing to complete the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam, be aged 18 or older, have or have had a mental health diagnosis, and be a current or former recipient of mental health services.

If you are given a conditional offer of employment, Wilder will enroll you and pay you to attend this course.

If applying as a family peer specialist, you must have a certification as a family peer specialist. If you are not yet certified, you must be willing to complete the Department of Human Services-approved Certified Family Peer Specialist Training and certification exam, be at least 21 years of age, have raised or are currently raising a child with a mental illness, be currently navigating or have experience navigating the children’s mental health system.

If you are given a conditional offer of employment, Wilder will enroll you and pay you to attend this course.

Successful candidates will have the ability to connect with individuals and/or families who are engaged in the mental health system, have an understanding of recovery, deep compassion, respect and passion for the people and communities we serve, ability to advocate with and for clients, collaborate with clients, families, and multiple service providers to ensure that clients and their families are getting the best care for them, have experience being around and working with diverse and multi-lingual communities, and experience with time management.
