The Supervisor of Mental Health Services assists districts and schools with implementing high-quality learning and support design in mental health systems, engaging districts by deepening their knowledge of mental health support available to schools and students to aid the development of collaborative district-wide student support systems.

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in mental health, public health education, social work, counseling, psychology, or other behavior health related field is required.
• Five years of experience in a job-related field.
• Experience with Trauma-Informed Practices and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) research.
• Knowledge of Restorative Practices and essential understanding of the concepts from the International Institute for Restorative Practices.
• Familiarity with various social-emotional curricula inclusive of the Michigan Model for Health.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of current research, leading-edge developments, and legal mandates in the areas of mental health, behavioral health, socio-emotional learning, district improvement, systems thinking, and leadership and funding streams available to districts and schools.
• Deep knowledge of programs, policies, practices, and materials that support mental health in the school setting including prevention, response, and recovery efforts related to crisis.
• Knowledge of/experience working with community resources related to student mental health supports.
• Demonstrated knowledge of tiered systems of support, including behavioral and mental health supports, and experience supporting schools, districts, agencies, or organizations in designing and implementing integrated systems of support.
• Demonstrated ability to lead data-informed systems improvement, including referral processes, service matching, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to build district or organizational capacity through consultation, coaching, technical assistance, and professional learning.
• Demonstrated success in supervising, coaching, developing, and evaluating professional staff.
• Excellent human and public relations skills.
• Demonstrated success in customer service and teamwork.
• Physically capable of performing the necessary job duties.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency’s vision and goals.

• Supervise all NC RESA behavior and mental health staff, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluation, professional growth, workload management, and team development
• Liaison with external agencies such as the Michigan Department of Education, universities, professional organizations, and community-based organizations as they interface with mental health.
• Support districts using universal screening, referral, intervention, and outcome data to make timely, equitable, and data-informed decisions regarding student support.
• Provide strategic and technical expertise around mental health, tiered systems of support, implementation, universal screening, referral processes, data review and the various funding mechanisms to support district-wide systems development that leads to improvement in student achievement and well-being and support in implementing and documenting state requirements.
• Build district capacity to implement evidence-based tiered 3 behavioral and mental health supports with fidelity.
