Reports To: Licensed Neuropsychologist or Licensed Psychologist
FLSA Status: Exempt or Non-Exempt (based on organizational structure and state/federal law)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Part-Time | PRN

Position Summary

The Psychometrician is responsible for administering, scoring, documenting, and preparing preliminary reports for standardized psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments, with a primary focus on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). Working under the direct supervision of a licensed Neuropsychologist or Psychologist, the Psychometrician ensures assessments are administered according to standardized protocols while maintaining the highest standards of clinical accuracy, documentation, and professionalism.

The Psychometrician does not independently interpret assessment results, diagnose conditions, or issue final reports. All findings, recommendations, and reports are reviewed, interpreted, and approved by the supervising Neuropsychologist or Psychologist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assessment Administration
  • Administer standardized psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments according to publisher guidelines and clinical protocols.
  • Conduct Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) evaluations with fidelity.
  • Prepare testing materials and ensure testing environments meet standardized administration requirements.
  • Build rapport with children, adolescents, and adults to facilitate accurate assessment results.
  • Monitor client behavior during evaluations and adjust testing procedures within standardized guidelines.
Assessment Scoring
  • Accurately score ADOS-2 assessments.
  • Score additional psychological, cognitive, adaptive, behavioral, and developmental measures as assigned.
  • Verify scoring accuracy before submitting results to the supervising Neuropsychologist.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards for all testing documentation.
Clinical Documentation
  • Document detailed behavioral observations throughout testing sessions.

  • Sensory responses
  • Behavioral presentation
  • Complete testing documentation in accordance with organizational policies and applicable state regulations.
Draft Report Preparation

Prepare comprehensive draft reports for review by the supervising Neuropsychologist that include:

  • Reason for referral
  • Tests administered
  • Behavioral observations
  • Objective test results
  • Summary of findings
  • Preliminary clinical impressions based solely on observed data
  • Evidence-based recommendations

All draft reports are subject to review, modification, interpretation, and final approval by the supervising Neuropsychologist prior to release.

  • Collaborate with Neuropsychologists, Psychologists, physicians, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in clinical case review meetings.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and families regarding testing procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating assessments.
Compliance

Maintain compliance with:

  • HIPAA
  • State licensing regulations
  • APA Ethical Principles
  • Test publisher administration standards
  • Medicaid and commercial insurance documentation standards (when applicable)
Supervision

The Psychometrician performs all assessment activities under the supervision of a licensed Neuropsychologist or Licensed Psychologist in accordance with applicable state laws, professional standards, and organizational policies. The supervising clinician retains sole responsibility for:

  • Interpretation of assessment results
  • Diagnostic conclusions
  • Clinical recommendations

The Psychometrician does not independently diagnose, interpret psychological test results, or release reports to patients or referral sources.

Minimum Qualifications Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following:

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology
  • Behavioral Science
  • Human Development
  • Related behavioral health field

Graduate-level education preferred.
