Human Resource Intern

Reports to:

Human Resources Director

Job Summary

Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. The Human Resource Intern carries out responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas:
Record / Data Maintenance, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, and employment. The Human Resources Intern contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives with the implementation of services, policies, and programs, and by assisting company managers with Human Resource issues.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Pursuing or recently obtained a degree in Human Resources.
  • Above average attendance with flexibility for extended hours before and after normal shift.

The Human Resource Intern has partial responsibility for these areas:

  • Manages Touchbase Program.
  • Manages NCC Apparel and HR Orders.
  • Manages and Assists with Associate Engagement programs.
  • Conducts Associate onboarding – Intro to NCC.
  • Conducts Exit Interviews.
  • Assists development, training logistics, and recordkeeping.
  • Assists with employee relations.
  • Assists with the paperwork involved in new hire orientation and terminating Associates.
  • Assists in maintaining associate files and the Human Resource filing system.
  • Assists with the day-to-day efficient operation of the Human Resource office.
  • Works with the HR director on yearly wage benchmarking and gathering of salary and benefits data.
  • Supports supervisors with any needs.
  • Supports NCC Policy and Values.
Human Resources Intern Requirements
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
  • Experience in administration of benefits and other Human Resource programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Activity for this position:
Essential for job function requires the ability to (with or without reasonable accommodations)
  • Must be able to sit for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
  • Must be able to stoop, twist, bend, and work overhead.
  • Requires visual acuity to access details. (I.e. office equipment, email, invoices, etc.)
  • Requires communication skills so ideas and instructions can be given clearly and/or quickly and understood.
  • Requires the ability to distinguish between speech, machinery, and other sounds to understand instructions and/or directions.
  • Extensive use of the computer is required.
