NAMI Georgia Lead Human Resources Internship
Location:
In-Person | Flexible Hours (12–40 hours/week) | $625 Stipend per 120 Hours
NAMI Georgia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness through support, education, and advocacy. It empowers local affiliates across the state to provide free peer-led programs, support groups, and community education initiatives, fostering hope, help, and acceptance for those impacted by mental health conditions.
Position Overview:NAMI Georgia is seeking a dependable, motivated Human Resources Intern to assist with day-to-day HR and intern program operations in our Atlanta office. This in-person internship offers a hands‑on opportunity to learn about nonprofit human resources, program coordination, and mental health advocacy.
Responsibilities:- Assisting with the supervision and organization of incoming interns
- Screening resumes
- Scheduling and conducting interviews
- Posting job ads
- Assisting with HR‑related reports and employee queries
- Providing administrative support to the HR department
- Assisting with training and development initiatives
- Standardizing employee filing system
- Support the human resources team in ad‑hoc projects, special assignments, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide administrative support to the human resources team members, such as organizing files physically or electronically, and handling correspondence.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in human resources, management, psychology, business, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with HR software systems (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) is a plus.
- Previous internship experience in human resources is preferred but not required.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for an extended period.
- Comprehensive training and ongoing supervision
- Insight into the workings of a nonprofit mental health organization
- Practical office experience and administrative skills
- Valuable resume‑building experience in the mental health nonprofit sector
