The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to continually seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering Fall Internships to qualified candidates who will support one of our various teams. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 hours per week. PCORI does not provide housing for out-of-town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Interested parties may apply for internships in multiple departments;

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

Current undergraduate level students will be paid $18.50.

• The project will focus on enhancing the content and user experience of PCORI.org website. The two main areas will be on developing a content strategy for the Implementation landing page and updating the current Topic pages.
• This project will require research and a landscape review to discover what and how peer organization websites present this type of information as well as listening sessions with staff prior to developing a content strategy.
• To update the current topic pages section, this project will also require a content inventory and review. This work will lead to the development of a proposal for the new pages and updates to existing pages utilizing website best practices.
• Additionally, the intern will learn about the backend of websites and the many components that enhance findability and user experience, particularly in the AI landscape.

• Brief report outlining research findings and landscape review of peer websites (Weeks 2-3)
• Content inventory of topic pages (weeks 4-5)
• Content strategy (weeks 6-8)

• Areas of Study: Communications, Digital Information, Web User Experience, Digital Communications
• Skills: The ideal candidate has basic knowledge of user experience, search engine optimization/answer engine optimization (AI), and website accessibility. Familiarity with using a website content management system (CMS) such as Drupal, Word Press is a must. Communications background, courses is a must.
