As an Underwriting Associate, you are the backbone of the underwriting process and aid as the Underwriter’s business partner. You will learn the underwriting process and workflows. The Underwriting Associate provides support to underwriting staff in quoting, binding, and servicing policies, including broker review and follow-up. The role encourages growth opportunities for team members to develop their insurance acumen for long-term company advancement.

Responsibilities include computing premiums, delivering initial pricing, assisting in underwriting analysis, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. There will be mentoring from various departments to provide an overall picture from rating to billing.

• Complete reading and exams in P&C Insurance Essentials textbook.
• P&C Manual Rating training
• Clearance, rating, policy issuance and endorsement training
• Compute and rate premium for new, renewal and/or endorsement business.
• Delivers initial pricing to your Underwriting partner.
• Interacts directly with underwriters to assist in underwriting analysis and documentation.
• Services accounts, including resolving agents’ inquiries, complaints, and requests.
• Performs policy processing activities.
• Performs applicable procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
• Orders and obtains various reports, such as MVR, D&B, etc.

• New to insurance; less than 2 years’ experience
• Minimum 2 years’ of undergrad
• Learning insurance and acquiring technical skills
• Learning processes and workflows
• Understanding the importance of quality
• No underwriting authority in the first 12 months
• MUST be willing to come into the Morristown office on our hybrid work schedule (3 days a week)
