We are seeking a highly organized, professional, and self-motivated Legal Assistant / Real Estate Law Clerk to support our real estate and legal practice. The ideal candidate is confident on the phone, experienced in real estate closings, comfortable working independently, and capable of handling both legal and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Telephone & Client Intake- Answer, screen, and transfer incoming calls to appropriate extensions
- Professionally communicate with potential clients, existing clients, attorneys, and government officials
- Quickly assess potential client legal needs and accurately collect biographic and contact information
- Maintain a courteous, confident, and professional phone presence at all times
- Conduct independent research on legal issues with guidance as needed
- Summarize findings clearly for attorney review
- Manage residential and commercial real estate closings (3–5 years of experience required)
- Identify real estate title issues, including ordering title insurance and obtaining curatives
- Prepare closing statements for residential and commercial transactions
- Open and maintain both paper and electronic client files
- Attend real estate closings on behalf of clients, when required
- Work independently while following firm guidance and procedures
Knowledge of immigration law and/or business law is considered an asset.
- Work efficiently in a Mac-based (Apple) office environment
- Troubleshoot minor printer and computer issues as needed
- Holding an active real estate license is a plus
- Run comparable market analyses (comps) for properties
- Show properties to prospective buyers or clients
- 3–5 years of experience in real estate law, specifically residential and commercial closings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Professional demeanor with clients, colleagues, and external contacts
- Ability to work independently
