The Food Operations Manager 2 will report to the General Manager and be responsible for leading a team of approximately 37 union employees
, including Food Service Supervisors and Patient Services Managers
. This leadership role is integral to the success of a cook-chill patient dining program, offering both restaurant-style and in-room dining services to residents and patients.
* This is not an entry-level position*—we’re seeking a seasoned leader with post-acute, DOH, JCAHO experience to qualify. Must be comfortable with client relations, budget compliance and patient experience in a union environment.
Must be flexible to work varied shifts and every other weekend.
Key responsibilities include:- Providing daily oversight of food operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and service excellence
- Leading, coaching, and developing frontline staff, supervisors, and managers to foster a high-performance culture
- Overseeing onboarding, training, and ongoing development initiatives to ensure compliance and operational consistency
- Collaborating closely with the Patient Services team to ensure a seamless dining experience that meets individual patient needs and exceeds expectations
- Maintaining strong client relationships and supporting client satisfaction through responsive communication and high standards of service
- Ensuring compliance with all Sodexo policies, local regulations, and food safety guidelines
- Supporting operational goals, including labor management, cost control, and quality assurance
- Proven experience in healthcare food service management
- Experience managing unionized teams in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Deep knowledge of food production systems, safety standards, and patient satisfaction strategies
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and every other weekend
