Mechanical Maintenance Planner
- Dudley, NC Plywood

Join our team, at our Building Products facility, in Dudley, NC, as a Mechanical Maintenance Planner. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating mechanical maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability and minimal production downtime. This role works closely with maintenance technicians, operations personnel, and engineering staff to develop proactive maintenance plans for all mechanical systems within the mill.

This role includes a $3000 Sign on Bonus!

  • You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.
  • Starting pay for this role is $28.00/hr. + based on skill and experience.

Shift: The work schedules include weekends and holidays as well as day and/or night shifts available are:
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30PM.

Our Team

The Dudley facility is one of Georgia-Pacific’s largest Building Products facilities and it manufactures Plytanium® Plywood, AC and BC, Sidings and Sturd-I-Floor® Plytanium® Plywood which is used in sheathing, roof decking, sub flooring and other specialty applications.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, presses, saws, and material handling systems.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create, assign, and track work orders and equipment histories.
  • Review completed work orders for accuracy, follow-up needs, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize maintenance activities in alignment with production schedules.
  • Ensure all required parts, tools, and materials are available before the scheduled maintenance work begins.
  • Work with vendors and procurement to order critical spares and ensure timely delivery of parts.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode analysis for chronic equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job plans.
  • Monitor equipment performance data and assist in identifying reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with shutdown planning and execution, including scope definition, resource allocation, and schedule development.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance planning or maintenance supervision, preferably in a wood products or heavy industrial setting or minimum 4+ years of experience as a millwright/electrician, preferably in a wood products or heavy industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and schematics.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Technical diploma or trade certification in mechanical maintenance, millwrighting, industrial mechanics, or related field.
  • Experience in a plywood, OSB, or lumber manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of lean maintenance principles and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in a sawmill environment with dust, noise, heat, and cold conditions.
