Remove/hybrid (Montgomery, AL) Position Summary

The Business Development Associate supports the organization’s operations, visibility, and growth through prospect research and outreach, social media content development, and direct assistance on active client engagements. Reporting to the Founder, the Associate will gain practical exposure to the operations of an HR and organizational development consulting practice, including how to source opportunities, build professional brand presence, and deliver high-quality work to clients.

This role is well-suited to a self-directed, professionally minded, applied learner interested in entrepreneurship, organizational development, marketing, communications, HR or business, and ready to contribute meaningfully to a mission-driven team.

Key Responsibilities Client Engagement and Outreach (approximately 40%)
  • Research prospective clients, stakeholders, and partnership opportunities aligned with the firm’s service offerings and mission.
  • Draft personalized outreach communications, including emails and direct messages, under the Founder’s direction.
  • Maintain an organized prospect tracker logging contacts, interactions, status, and follow-up actions.
  • Schedule introductory and discovery calls; prepare briefing notes and background summaries in advance of meetings.
  • Support follow-up communications after consultations, networking events, speaking engagements, and conferences.
Social Media Development (approximately 30%)
  • Draft, design, and schedule branded content across social channels in alignment with the firm’s voice, tone, and visual brand identity.
  • Build graphics and short-form visual content (Canva or similar platform).
  • Monitor engagement and compile straightforward performance summaries that inform content decisions.
  • Research trending topics relevant to the firm’s service and thought leadership themes.
  • Repurpose created content and publications (newsletters, posts, and presentations) into social-ready formats.
Client Project Support (approximately 30%)
  • Assist with formatting, proofreading, and quality assurance on client-facing deliverables.
  • Research topics relevant to client services and engagements.
  • Support meeting preparation, including agenda drafting, materials assembly, and logistics coordination.
  • Help organize digital files, maintain project documentation, and keep working folders categorized and current.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and Canva.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working familiarity with major social media platforms (Linked In, Instagram, etc)
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and deliver work independently within a hybrid work arrangement.
  • High degree of discretion, dependability, and responsiveness in handling confidential client and business information.
  • Anticipate, respond, and follow through effectively on client needs
  • Represent the firm credibly by making warm, professional impressions with current and prospective clients
Preferred Qualifications
  • College coursework or work experience in human resources, project management, business, management, marketing, communications, or related disciplines.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Flodesk, Mailchimp, or Constant Contact.
Working Conditions

This is a remote/hybrid, part-time role. The Associate must have reliable high-speed internet access and be available for scheduled virtual meetings and in-person events. Hours are generally flexible within a typical business-day window with meetings and events scheduled in advance. Work involves sustained computer use, professional written and verbal communication, and participation in virtual or in-person events or meetings.
