Freelance Content Creator & Social Media Manager

Essence Extractors is an emerging creative strategy and brand experience studio focused on uncovering what makes a brand distinct and translating that essence into compelling visual identities, marketing, experiences, and storytelling.

We currently work primarily within luxury real estate, with plans to expand further into hospitality, boutique hotels, fragrance, lifestyle, and culturally driven brands.

Our philosophy is simple: one size does not fit all. Every brand, property, and experience has its own personality.

Our approach is highly collaborative. Rather than maintaining a traditional fixed creative team, we assemble specialized creative talent around the personality, needs, and ambitions of each project. This allows us to create bespoke teams and ultimately, work that feels specific rather than formulaic.

Essence Extractors is looking for a freelance Content Creator & Social Media Manager to collaborate with us on select client projects.

This is a project-by-project freelance position
, ideal for someone who is visually driven, culturally aware, and equally comfortable thinking strategically and creating with their hands.

Depending on the project, you may help develop a brand’s social presence from the ground up, capture content on location, turn existing assets into compelling social content, or manage the ongoing rhythm of a client’s platforms.

Depending on the client and scope, responsibilities may include:

• Developing social media concepts and content strategies aligned with a client’s brand identity
• Creating short-form video content for Instagram, Tik Tok, and other relevant platforms
• Shooting polished photo and video content on-site using an iPhone and/or professional equipment
• Editing Reels, short-form videos, photography, and other social-first assets
• Translating larger brand strategies into engaging, digestible social storytelling
• Creating content calendars and establishing a thoughtful posting cadence
• Writing or collaborating on captions, hooks, and social copy
• Managing and scheduling posts across client accounts when required
• Identifying relevant cultural, visual, and platform trends without allowing the work to feel overly trend-driven
• Brainstorming recurring content series and creative campaigns
• Collaborating with photographers, videographers, graphic designers, strategists, and other members of our project-based creative teams
• Attending occasional property shoots, events, openings, activations, or client experiences to capture content in real time
• Reviewing performance and using insights to refine future content

We’re looking for someone with a strong visual instinct and an eye for detail
.

You should understand composition, pacing, atmosphere, typography, music, and the small creative decisions that make content feel elevated rather than generic.

You may be a great fit if you:

• Have experience creating social content for brands, businesses, or your own creative projects
• Have a strong portfolio demonstrating both creativity and versatility
• Are skilled in short-form video creation and editing
• Understand Instagram and Tik Tok from both a creative and strategic perspective
• Can adapt your creative style to different brands rather than imposing the same aesthetic on every client
• Have an appreciation for architecture, interiors, hospitality, fashion, design, luxury, or culture
• Are comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a larger creative team
• Are organized, communicative, and dependable with deadlines
• Can take a creative direction and elevate it with your own ideas
• Are comfortable occasionally working on location in NYC and the surrounding area
