The United City Summer Internship is a paid, ten-week, full-time ministry experience designed for college students who want to explore vocational ministry while serving in a thriving local church. Through intentional mentorship, hands‑on ministry, and meaningful leadership opportunities, interns gain practical ministry experience while discovering how God has uniquely gifted and called them.

As one of the fastest‑growing churches in Northeast Houston, United City Church exists to help people Find Life in Jesus and Bring Life to Everyone Around Them. Interns don’t simply observe ministry—they become active members of a ministry team, serving alongside experienced pastors and leaders while growing spiritually, personally, and professionally.

Whether you’re considering vocational ministry or simply want to invest your summer serving the local church, the United City Summer Internship offers an immersive experience that will deepen your faith, sharpen your leadership, and help you discern God’s calling for your future.

Interns serve in one of the following ministry tracks based on their gifts, interests, and calling.

Create engaging environments where children know Jesus and families thrive.

Disciple students, develop leaders, and reach the next generation.

Build biblical community and equip adults to become disciple‑makers.

Reach emerging adults, cultivate authentic community, and launch leaders into God’s mission.

Mobilize the church to live on mission—locally, nationally, and globally.

Build biblical community and develop leaders as part of United City Church’s vision of one church, two languages.

Lead people to worship Christ through spiritual leadership, musical excellence, and pastoral care.

Leverage technology to create distraction‑free environments where people can encounter Jesus.

Tell compelling stories that help people take their next step with Jesus.

Every Summer Intern receives intentional development through:

• Weekly mentorship from an experienced pastor or ministry leader
• Hands‑on ministry experience in your chosen ministry track
• Practical leadership opportunities and ministry coaching
• Church staff development and leadership training
• Exposure to multiple areas of church ministry
• A collaborative summer cohort with fellow interns
• Opportunities to lead projects and serve in meaningful ministry environments
• A clearer understanding of God’s calling and future ministry opportunities

We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate:

• A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve the local church
• Current college students or recent graduates interested in exploring vocational ministry
• A teachable spirit and willingness to grow through mentorship and feedback
• Strong character, initiative, and a servant‑hearted attitude
• Previous ministry involvement in a church or volunteer setting is preferred
• Agreement with the mission, values, and beliefs of United City Church

Some ministry tracks have additional qualifications (such as worship leadership experience, technical aptitude, creative portfolios, or bilingual proficiency).

Full‑Time (40 hours/week)

Ten‑week Summer Internship (May–July)

The United City Summer Internship is a paid ministry experience that allows students to invest a summer serving the local church while gaining valuable leadership experience.

Interns also receive:

• Weekly mentorship from experienced ministry leaders
• Leadership development and ministry coaching
• Practical, hands‑on ministry experience
• Church staff training and professional development
• A collaborative intern cohort
• Opportunities to explore multiple ministry environments
• Consideration for future placement in the United City Apprenticeship or Residency Program
