Join our exciting research team investigating the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. My laboratory needs a research assistant. The duties fall into two categories:

A) (50%) Manage ordering, inventories and lab organization. You will be assisted by an undergraduate work study student who can spend up to 20 hrs/wk assisting with lab maintenance.

B) (50%) Participate in research projects in the laboratory.

The choice of research projects will be decided based on your interests and the fit with existing project needs in the laboratory. Generally, our lab investigates the interaction between persistent stress, RNA metabolism and disease. We do this using a variety of approaches including the study of human brain samples, human 3D iPSC organoid cultures, genetically modified mouse models and cell lines.

We use approaches that include transcriptomics, proteomics, cell biology, etc.. The applicant must be strongly motivated, able to work independently and possess a strong ability to organize data. In addition, have good interpersonal skills. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and prior laboratory experience. Compensation is dependent on experience.

We would like the incoming employee to join the lab in April so that they can overlap with the existing lab manager (who is going to graduate school).

Experience:

Prior laboratory experience in a cell biology/molecular biology laboratory:

• Experience with pipetting, making up solutions, analyzing data
• Preference is given to any applicants who have experience with cell culture, PCR, Plasmid preparations, immunochemistry or immunofluorescence, microscopy and/or protein purification.
