The BARISTA (Part-time) is responsible to provide highest service standards and enjoyable guest experience to Coastline Café customers, conduct sales transactions, possess thorough understanding of food offerings, prepare high quality coffee and other beverages with focus on salesmanship, and maintain efficient organization with a clean and aesthetic appeal.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $16.90 per hour, or other minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company’s policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, include but not limited to:
  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Supervisor/Manager when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor with guests at all times.
  • To demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the company’s diverse food and beverage selections (plating/garnish/glassware) and effectively prepare and articulate them to guests.
  • To make the Outlets Manager aware of all guest comments and complaints.
  • To provide properly prepared beverages and food, as requested.
  • To follow specified procedures to open and close the coffee shop according to department SOP’s.
  • To follow specified procedures to provide prompt, efficient, and gracious customer service to hotel guests at Coastline Café, including (but not limited to) answering telephones; taking orders, preparing orders, and presenting guest checks.
  • To maintain adequate stock of supplies, in accordance with established pars and routine procedures, and be responsible for the availability of items necessary to the performance of the coffee shop.
  • To review and verify previous shift’s inventory at the beginning of every shift and prepare stock/items requisition for the following shift.
  • To ensure the cleanliness and condition of the Coastline Café.
  • To create requisition orders for the Purchasing department and kitchen for re-stocking of items. To properly display, implement, and stow items upon arrival.
  • To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle cash, including maintaining adequate cash amount in bank; giving correct change for cash transactions; ringing all drinks through the Micros system; and accurately processing credit cards and room charges.
  • To accurately manage end of shift reporting in Micros of tips, cash transactions, credit card transactions, room charges, and house accounts along with following cash drop procedures.
  • To assist other team members with duties to ensure all tasks are complete and the Café is running smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Must be familiar with all areas of customer service, including correct telephone etiquette and proper cash and cash register handling. Must have strong basic math skills. Previous hotel/resort experience preferred. A valid food handlers card must be timely obtained upon hire and maintained in good standing, which time and expense may be compensable.

A valid California Responsible Beverage Service certification is required.
