Internship Exploring General Business & Beyond

ABOUT US:

Whip It Goods Skincare is a St. Louis-based plant-based skincare company and experiential retail studio. We create thoughtfully formulated skincare products and host hands-on workshops where customers make customized body care products in an engaging, welcoming environment.

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Retail & Business Development Intern to support our in-store customer experience while helping us grow our wholesale, private workshop and community partnership opportunities.

This role is ideal for a student interested in entrepreneurship, sales, retail, business development, hospitality or small-business operations. The intern will gain practical experience working directly with a founder and learning how a growing consumer brand attracts customers, builds partnerships and develops new revenue opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Customer Experience and Retail Support
  • Welcome customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
  • Learn about Whip It Goods products and help customers select products based on their needs
  • Process purchases and support daily retail operations
  • Maintain an organized, clean and inviting store environment
  • Assist with product displays, merchandising and inventory organization
  • Answer basic customer questions about products, workshops and private events
Workshop Support
  • Help prepare materials and workstations before workshops
  • Welcome and check in workshop participants
  • Assist the workshop host and provide support to guests during the experience
  • Help reset and clean the studio after workshops
  • Prepare workshop supplies, product containers, labels and other materials
  • Support private parties, group experiences and special events as scheduled
Business Development and Sales Support
  • Research potential wholesale accounts, including boutiques, spas, gift shops, wellness retailers and other aligned businesses
  • Build and maintain organized prospect lists
  • Identify appropriate contacts and decision-makers
  • Assist with approved email outreach and follow-up
  • Research potential private workshop clients, including companies, schools, universities, event planners and community organizations
  • Help develop relationships with local businesses and referral partners
  • Prepare samples, line sheets and other sales materials
  • Track outreach, responses and next steps in the company’s lead-management system
  • Support follow-up with existing wholesale partners regarding reorders and new products
Customer Retention and Growth Projects
  • Assist with post-workshop customer follow-up
  • Help request customer reviews and feedback
  • Identify opportunities to encourage repeat purchases and future workshop bookings
  • Maintain accurate customer, prospect and partnership information
  • Track basic sales and workshop performance information
  • Contribute ideas for improving the retail and workshop experience
  • Assist with special projects based on current business priorities
What We’re Looking For
  • Current college student pursuing a degree in business, marketing, sales, entrepreneurship, communications, hospitality, retail management or a related area
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Friendly, professional and comfortable interacting with customers
  • Dependable, organized and able to manage tasks independently
  • Willingness to conduct research, outreach and follow-up
  • Comfortable working in a small-business environment where priorities may shift
  • Able to take initiative and stay productive during slower store periods
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow established processes
  • Comfortable learning point-of-sale, scheduling and customer-management tools
  • Interest in skincare, wellness, retail or entrepreneurship is helpful but not required

Previous retail, hospitality, customer service or sales experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
