WHO WE ARE

Maple Lake Academy for Boys is a residential treatment center for adolescents (boys 13 to 18) on the autistic spectrum. Our students are high functioning dealing with deficits in social skills, life skills, inability to understand their own emotions or put their emotions into words. We provide a safe and nurturing home‑like environment for our students to learn skills that push them in the areas mentioned above.

Our team works with our client population daily, hands on, and in one‑on‑one situations.

Description

We are looking for confident individuals who have experience working with youth. Must have the ability to be flexible, patient and not take things personally. Great experience for those looking for a career working in psychology, social work, education/special education, or those who have a special interest in helping others. Experience preferred either working with youth or in working with those who have autism spectrum disorder but not necessary.

Schedule
  • Must be willing to pick up 1‑2 shifts a week. Must be willing to help out on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday as they become available.
  • Great way to pick your own schedule week to week. Very flexible. We post the positions needed and you sign up for shifts as they come open.
  • Once trained and familiar with the program flexible shifts could turn into a set day(s) each week.
  • Varies and is flexible based on your availability.
  • Great for students who have a busy school schedule.
  • Shift are either 6:45AM to 3PM, or 2:45PM to 11PM. Schedule needs may vary.
  • Some needs may be short 4‑hour shifts (this is all based on need and your schedule).
  • Full shifts (8 hours).
  • Part‑time and on‑call position.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 21 years or older (to be able to drive company vehicles).
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check upon accepting an offer.
Duties
  • Attend shift meetings once a week.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport students to and from appointments and activities.
  • Attend monthly company training (minimum requirement is at least one each quarter).
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for clients.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for each client.
  • Provide structure, implement rules, implement time management, help with ADL’s, help clients process feelings and emotions.
  • Dependable, reliable, receive and carry out instruction, and genuinely care for others.
  • Work in the classroom helping clients stay on task and move forward in assignments.
  • Observe and monitor behavior and have the ability to chart on those observations in a professional and subjective manner.
  • Support your shift and the supervisor of that shift.
  • Ensure that the clients are keeping a clean home environment.
  • Take seriously the training program and is eager to learn and grow in your position as a mentor.
  • Have the ability to pay attention to details and be aware of what is going on around you at all times.
