Job Overview The Diver/Dive Tender will perform a variety of tasks including tending, diving, and standby diver responsibilities. The role involves working both underwater and topside across projects such as dredging, burning, welding, drilling, concrete work, and other tasks. The diver may also assist other craft workers as needed.
Responsibilities
- Accomplish underwater and topside tasks per project requirements.
- Assist other craft workers as needed.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; refer defects or needed repairs to the project foreman, superintendent, or safety director.
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures and bring concerns to the appropriate project personnel.
- Follow daily procedures and protocols established in job orientations and training.
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up material, tools, and small equipment.
- Secure jobsite each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Keep project leadership informed of actions, written or verbal, that may affect project performance or company operations.
- Perform other projects or duties as assigned by management.
- Junior college or trade/vocational training and two to three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Dive Certificate from an accredited diving school.
- O2 Administrator, CPR, and First Aid/AED certifications.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with coworkers, management of all levels, customers, and clients.
- Ability to complete on‑job training.
- Ability to read and understand site plans.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to assist in solutions to unexpected issues.
- Dependable attendance schedule and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
- Willingness to travel.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
- Capacity to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.
Work Environment Employees will work near machines and loud noises on construction sites, with regular exposure to variable weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
