Overview
Entry Level Estimator position at KCI Technologies, Inc.
Location:
US-GA-Duluth; US-SC-Greenville. The role supports the cost estimating and scheduling practice by developing detailed, production-based construction cost estimates for heavy civil projects under the guidance of experienced estimators.
- Review bid documents, plans, specifications, and project scope to assess requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for various project elements using industry-standard software.
- Assist in developing detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using HCSS Heavy Bid.
- Collaborate with estimating team to brainstorm and develop cost-effective solutions.
- Assist in preparing CPM project schedules.
- Conduct site visits to gather data (measurements, notes, photographs).
- Develop CAD drawings depicting construction methodology concepts.
- Stay updated on industry trends, costs, and new technologies.
- Aim to meet or exceed individual utilization targets and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure projects comply with ISO standards (as applicable).
- Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures and maintain quality standards in work products.
- Education and/or
Skills Required: - 0-2 years of experience in the heavy civil industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
- Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
- Previous internships or work experience in heavy civil construction.
- Working knowledge of cost estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid or similar).
- Working knowledge of quantity takeoff software (Bluebeam Revu or similar).
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- AutoCAD or Micro Station experience.
