GENERAL
SUMMARY:
The Product Assembly division is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applications Engineer to lead and support complex applications engineering projects. The Applications Engineer is responsible for projects, including designing, defining, and implementing system requirements; analyzing and testing company products; and developing complete system solutions based on customer requirements.
This position will conduct customer application tests to ensure all customer specifications and requirements are met. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for system quotes, preparing system diagrams, overseeing design activities, and managing system orders from initial quoting through installation.
While the Applications Engineer is expected to work independently, the role also requires contributing to complex aspects of broader projects that may fall outside of direct responsibility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Supports the sales organization by reviewing customers’ technical requirements and recommending system solutions that fit their application needs, helping strengthen value propositions and grow Nordson’s market share.
- Conducts customer application evaluations and testing to confirm performance, feasibility, and compliance with customer specifications.
- Develops cost estimates and works closely with the sales team on technical aspects of proposals, ensuring recommended solutions integrate effectively with customers’ existing systems and equipment.
- Identifies, develops, and recommends engineering solutions or modifications needed to meet customer requirements or resolve application challenges.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional engineering teams—mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing—to resolve issues during solution development, integration, or after implementation.
- Provides technical support to field sales, service teams, and customers, answering questions on equipment performance and recommending the best equipment for specific applications.
- Oversees the design or specification of custom components and system elements required for specialized or non‑standard applications.
- Prepares engineering designs, documentation, and work specifications to ensure clear communication and smooth execution.
- Resolves operational issues and minimizes delays, supporting successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Provides mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers, contributing to a collaborative and high‑performing engineering environment.
- Performs additional duties or participates in special projects as assigned, supporting broader business and continuous improvement goals.

Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
Required Length & Type of
Experience:
- Requires a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA’s):
- Applies broad knowledge specific to product capability, performance, and suitability to provide application solutions.
- Advanced understanding of mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design systems and components.
