General SummaryThe Senior Application Engineer is responsible for applications engineering, which may include designing, defining, implementing system requirements, analyzing and/or testing company products to create and develop system solutions based on customer requirements. The position will conduct feasibility tests and work on process development projects to meet customer specifications and requirements. They will be responsible for development of bill of materials, drawing of system diagrams, overseeing the design, and managing system orders from quoting to installation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Partner with sales team to review customers' technical needs and recommend specific product/service solutions to meet these needs and drive Nordson’s market share.
- Conduct feasibility tests and work on process development projects to meet customer specifications and/or requirements.
- Estimate costs and consult with the sales force on technical matters, ensuring that proposed solutions can be integrated with current systems and equipment.
- Work with engineers from various departments to resolve problems that arise during and after implementation.
- Answer questions from field sales, service, and/or customers about equipment performance and make recommendations on what equipment to use for a particular purpose.
- Oversee the design of and/or specify special components as needed for custom system solutions.
- Assist with sales presentations to prospective customers and conduct user training for customers on-site.
- Guide the work of lower level engineers.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
Mechanical or Electrical preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of prior related applied engineering experience.
- Advanced understanding of mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design systems and components.
- Ability to make well-reasoned and timely decisions based on careful, objective review and informed analysis of available considerations and factors.
- Ability to adapt behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; adjusts rapidly to new situations or issues warranting attention and resolution.
- Strong skill in task prioritization and ability to adjust priorities as business dictates.
- Occasional regional travel.
