Staff Board Hardware Engineer
Focus:
High-Speed PCB Design for Gen 7 PCIe
Location:
Duluth, GA (Onsite). Relocation Package Offered
Compensation:
Generous total package comprising base, bonus and stock. Senior Engineer total package up to approx $275k, Staff Engineer total package up to approx $400k, Principal Engineer up to approx $500k
Introduction
Stellar opportunity to work for a leading semiconductor company focused on cutting-edge high-performance networking and infrastructure solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for designing, developing, and bringing up complex PCB-based systems for next-generation hardware platforms, including PCIe Gen 7.
What You Will Do:
- Translate product and system requirements into detailed schematics and board-level designs
- Lead PCB development from concept through bring-up and validation
- Partner with cross-functional teams including architecture, firmware, mechanical, SI/PI, and layout
- Participate in component selection, evaluation, and qualification - Develop functional specifications, test plans, and documentation
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and issue resolution using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.)
- Collaborate on layout decisions including component placement and routing constraints
- Contribute to design simulations (power and signal integrity)
- Manage multiple projects and communicate progress, risks, and timelines
- Support sustaining engineering activities including ECOs and issue resolution
What We Are Looking For:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in PCB design and board-level development
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB (10g or higher)
- Knowledge of power design including DC/DC regulation
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up and lab debugging
- Familiarity with Cadence Allegro or similar PCB design tools
- Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE or equivalent
- Understanding of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART
Nice To Have:
- Experience with signal integrity or power integrity analysis
- Background in embedded systems, FPGA, or microcontrollers
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, C, TCL, etc.)
- Familiarity with lab tools such as TDR or VNA
- Experience with PCB stack-up design or layout collaboration
