Job Summary

The Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant (BIL CMA) will support medical providers in delivering care for patients enrolled in pre‑exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services and for patients living with HIV. The CMA is supervised by the Nurse Manager and ultimately the Director of Clinical Care.

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome patients and create a positive, compassionate experience from check‑in through discharge.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their visit.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical history, current medications, and patient concerns.
  • Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect, process, and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed by licensed providers.
  • Perform patient triage and help ensure patients receive timely care.
  • Return patient phone calls within 24 hours while providing professional, compassionate communication.
  • Schedule appointments for providers, laboratory services, and follow‑up care.
  • Process referrals and coordinate care with internal and external healthcare partners.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Authorize medication refills according to provider direction and established protocols.
  • Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow‑up instructions.
  • Support patients receiving HIV treatment and individuals participating in HIV prevention (PrEP) services with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and clinical equipment to ensure a clean, safe environment.
  • Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives that help enhance patient care and clinic performance.
  • Assist with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities that support excellent patient care.
