Position Summary

The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting core HR functions with a strong focus on CDL driver recruitment and driver payroll processing
. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end hiring process for drivers, ensuring DOT compliance in documentation, and overseeing accurate and timely payroll operations for the driver workforce.

This role requires a detail-oriented, organized professional with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, transportation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for CDL drivers, including job postings, screening, interviews, background checks, and offers.
  • Coordinate and conduct driver onboarding, ensuring completion of employment documents, I-9 verification, and DQ file setup.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations related to driver qualification and onboarding.
  • Partner with Operations and Fleet departments to anticipate hiring needs and manage driver staffing levels.

Driver Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly driver payroll, including review of hours, mileage logs, per diem claims, deductions, and reimbursements.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies, answer employee inquiries, and maintain confidentiality of payroll.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS and employee records.
  • Support payroll, benefits enrollment, and policy renewals.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Conduct investigations and administer disciplinary processes per company policy.
  • Maintain strong employee communication channels and engagement programs.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain and audit driver qualification files and HR records to ensure ongoing compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state/federal labor laws.
  • Assist in administering benefit enrollments, open enrollment, and claims support for drivers and non-driver employees.
  • Handle employee relations issues and serve as a first point of contact for driver HR concerns.
  • Respond to external inquiries and coordinate with state/federal agencies for employment verifications or compliance audits.
  • Support the broader HR team with cross-functional administrative and policy-related tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience accepted).
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or high-volume staffing environments.
  • Prior experience handling CDL driver hiring and/or DOT-regulated documentation is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of driver compensation models (hourly, mileage-based, per load, per diem).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; bilingual (English/Korean or English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience with transportation, logistics, or union/non-union labor environments is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and compensation best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Bilingual English/Korean is preferred but not required.
Work Schedule and Location
  • Standard workweek:
    Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Occasional support for after-hours driver onboarding or payroll deadlines
  • Primary work location is Duluth, GA.
  • Occasional travel to branch offices (Mobile, AL / Savannah, GA / Oakland, CA) may be required.
